Oh man, I think it is about time I ended this unexpected hiatus. Real Life has an annoying tendency to get in the way of more important things like drawing silly pictures and lounging around. Anyway, things are getting done and suddenly I have time!
And then I make something stupid like this
Have some more completely innaccurate accurate Jefferson for 4th of July :]
Spotlight is also on Jean-Antoine Houdon this time, an absolutely amazing neoclassical sculptor famous for doing…famous people. As I understand it, his methods consisted mostly of “sketches” in terracotta and taking life models and masks, but I am sure like all artists he had to do the occasional preliminary sketch or two ;]
I wish I had a portable Madison. Then perhaps I would have done better in AP Gov. those many years ago pfffff
I don’t know what’s happening with Jefferson’s face either
Jefferson loved nature like woah. I had to do something about his furry coat though because this portrait has always struck me as so quirky compared to all the other Founders’ formal portraits. Oh Jefferson X]
This was just begging to be done. That dinner was important though! It made Washington D.C. and started off the U.S. economy and it was one of the only times that Hamilton and Jefferson actually worked together. Madison was there too; I always seem to lose him between those two huge personalities. I’m sorry little Jemmy!
Oh Mr. Adams, at least you had a kickass wife! Spring cleaning with HBO’s John Adams playing in the background = best thing ever. I will never get tired of watching Stephen Dillane in a cravat, waistcoat, and stockings. NEVAR.
I should be working on other things but this is just toooo fun. I’ve been wanting to do this ever since I found out that the Washingtons had a “lascivious tomcat” named Hamilton ;] (thanks foundingfatherfest, I think I actually got that piece of info from your awesome blog!)
Also! A belated thanks to everyone who found this little corner of the internet and decided to follow along! Long live history lovers! YOU GUYS ARE ALL TOO AMAZING
Pin up Jefferson
With very long legs of course ;)
